Act of Hope 5

For Your mercies’ sake, O Lord my God,
tell me what You are to me.
Say to my soul: “I am your salvation.”
So speak that I may hear, O Lord;
my heart is listening;
open it that it may hear You,
and say to my soul: “I am your salvation.”
After hearing this word,
may I come in haste to take hold of you.
Hide not Your face from me.
Let me see Your face even if I die,
lest I die with longing to see it.
The house of my soul is too small to receive You;
let it be enlarged by You.
It is all in ruins;
do You repair it.
There are thing in it,
I confess and I know,
that must offend Your sight.
But who shall cleanse it?
Or to what others besides You shall I cry out?
From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord,
and from those of others spare your servant.

Amen.

Act of Hope (Authorized for use in Ireland)

O my God!
Who hast graciously promised every blessing,
even heaven itself,
through Jesus Christ,
to those who keep Thy commandments:
relying on Thine infinite power,
goodness, and mercy, and on Thy sacred promises,
to which Thou art always faithful,
I confidently hope to obtain pardon of all my sins;
grace to serve Thee faithfully in this life,
by doing the good works Thou hast commanded,
and which, with Thine assistance,
I purpose to perform;
and eternal happiness in the next;
through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Act of Hope and Confidence after Holy Communion

My soul,
confide in Jesus.
He can do thee every good.
He is God and He loves thee.
In the Blessed Eucharist He is sweet and mild and
generous.
Urged by love,
He comes to manifest His love to thee.
Yes, my dear Jesus,
Thou art my hope and my salvation.
Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I place my trust in Thee.
I trust, O Lord,
that Thou wilt enkindle in my heart the flame of Thy pure
love,
and a real desire to please Thee;
so that, from this day forward,
I may never will anything but what Thou willest.

Amen.

Act of Humility 1

O my Saviour!
whom am I that Thou shouldst invite me
to receive Thee for the food of my soul?
Is it possible that Thou,
the God of infinite purity,
shouldst come and dwell in my heart,
which has been so long the abode of Thine enemy,
and the sink of so much sin?
Lord, if Thou wilt,
Thou canst make me clean.
Say but the word and my soul shall be healed.
I come then,
O my amiable Saviour,
to receive Thee this morning,
but I come covered with shame
and confusion at the sight of my sins,
but full of confidence in Thy mercy,
and in the love which Thou dost bear to me.

Amen.

Act of Humility after Holy Communion

O Jesus, my God!
Thou art infinite in all perfections;
and I am but dust,
and unto dust shall I return.
Depart from me, O Lord,
for I am a sinful man.
Yet, O my sweet Jesus,
if Thou leavest me,
to whom shall I go?
What will become of me?
Rather will I say,
“Stay with me, Lord;
abide always within my heart;
and may my heart make ever sacrifice for Thee.”.

Amen.

Act of Humility before Holy Communion

He comes to me who is the Judge of the living and the
dead.
Before Him the pillars of heaven tremble,
and the pure angels veil their faces with their wings.
Whither shall I flee from His face?
Two places are safe for me,
the depths of my misery
and the Heart of my Judge.
In them will I hide myself.

O my God,
I detest all the sins of my whole life
because they displease Thee,
and especially I am sorry for those
which I have committed against this sacrament,
by my irreverence and the little profit
I have drawn from so many communions,
by my negligence in guarding my senses,
particularly my tongue,
which has been so often consecrated by Thy Divine Presence.

My Lord and my God,
what confusion I feel at beholding myself so unworthy
to approach Thy holy table.
Suffer me, dear Jesus,
to seek the remedy for my evils
in the wound of Thy sacred Heart.
Let Thy sacred Heart be to me
as the burning coal which purified the lips of Isaias;
place it, all inflamed with charity,
I beseech Thee, dear Lord,
on my heart, my tongue, my senses,
and all the powers of my soul,
so that it may burn and annihilate
all this is displeasing to Thee.

Jesus, Jesus be to me Jesus, and save me.
Remember Thou hast said,
“The Son of man is come to seek
and to save that which was lost” (Luke xix, 10).
They that in health need not a physician,
but they that are sick.
I am not come to call the just but sinners (Matt ix, 13).”
Dear Lord, I am sick,
I am sinful, as Thou knowest;
come to me and say,
I am thy salvation (Psalm xxxiv, 3).

Grant me, O Lord,
the grace of beginning a new,
a fervent life,
and deign to give me in this holy sacrament
the pledge of eternal life promised
to those who receive Thee worthily.

Amen.

Act of Love 1

O God, all that I am and all that I have is from you. You have given me my gifts of body and soul. You have numbered me among your favored children. You have showered me with countless graces and blessings. From all eternity you have thought of me and loved me. How shall I ever love you in return?

And now in your merciful goodness you are coming into my soul to unit yourself most intimately with me. You came into the world for love of man, but now you are coming from the altar for love of me. You are coming to fill me heart with your holy love, my Creator, my Redeemer, my Sanctifier, my God.

O Jesus, I want to return this love. I want to love you with all the powers of my soul. I want to belong only to you, to consecrate myself to you alone. Jesus, let me live for you; let me die for you. Living and dying may I be yours.

Act of Love 2

O my divine Jesus, how shall I return you thanks for the goodness in giving yourself to me? The only way I can repay your love is by loving you in return. Yes, my Lord, I love you, and I desire to love you all my life.

My Jesus, you alone are sufficient for me. Whom shall I love, if I love not you, my Jesus? You love those who love you. I love you. Oh, do you also love me. If I love you but little, give me the love which you require of me.

O Mary, my good Mother, and you glorious Saint Joseph, lend me your love wherewith to love my Jesus.
