A Prayer for Surviving Friends

Grant, O Lord, we beseech Thee,
that while we lament the departure of Thy servant,
we may always remember that
we are most certainly to follow him.
Give us grace to prepare for the last hour
by a good and holy life,
that we may not be taken unprepared by sudden death,
but may be ever on the watch, that,
when Thou shalt call,
we may go forth to meet the Bridegroom,
and enter with Him into glory everlasting.
Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

O most wise and merciful Lord,
Who hast ordained this life
as a passage to the future,
confining our repentance to the time of our pilgrimage
here,
and reserving for hereafter the state of punishment and
reward;
vouchsafee to us who are yet alive,
and have still the opportunity to reconciliation with Thee,
the grace so to watch over all our actions,
and to correct every slightest wandering
from the true way of heaven,
that we may not be surprised with our sins uncancelled,
or our duties unfulfilled;
but when our bodies shall go down in the grave,
our souls may ascend to Thee,
and dwell with Thee forever
in the mansions of eternal bliss.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord and only Saviour.

Amen.

Table Blessing for Holy Thursday

Reading: Instructing his friends into the divine mysteries, Jesus, the wisdom of God, prepares a table that gives food to the soul, and mingles for the faithful the cup of the wine of life eternal. Let us all, therefore, draw near the mysterious table, with pure souls let us receive the Bread of Life: Let us remain at the master’s side, that we may see how he washes the feet of the disciples and wipes them with a towel, and let us do as we have seen him do, washing one another’s feet. For such is the commandment that Christ himself gave to his disciples (Byzantine Matins).

Responsory:
Verse: Come, O faithful, let us enjoy the master’s hospitality,

Response:
and partake at the table of immortal life in the upper room.

The Lord’s Prayer
Blessing

Lord Jesus Christ, in your ardent love for Your apostles You desired to share the Passover meal with them on the night before You suffered. During the course of that meal, You instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist where You offered to us Your own Body and Blood as bread and wine to nourish our souls. Send Your blessings upon this table and all those who partake of it. Nourish us with the Bread of Life, until the day we are called to the banquet of eternal life.

Amen.

Take From Me My Heart of Stone

O Lord, take away my heart of stone, my hardened heart, my uncircumcised heart and grant to me a new heart, a heart of flesh, a clean heart! O Thou who purifieth the heart and loveth the clean heart, posses my heart and dwell in it, containing it and filling it, higher than my highest and more intimate than my most intimate thoughts. Thou who art the image of all beauty and the seal of all holiness, seal my heart in Thine image and seal my heart in Thy mercy, O God of my heart and the God of my portion in eternity.

Amen.

Take me from the dark

Lord,
With your bright and open heart forgive me for showing darkness to the light.
Putting my back, to what is right was wrong and i have sinned against you.
Forgive me O merciful one because i have relished my wrong and i am sorry for what i have done.
Lord i am ready to contiue following in your footsteps.
Take my from the dark.
Hear me now O lord.

Amen

The Prayer Te Deum

O God, we praise Thee, and acknowledge Thee to be the supreme Lord. Everlasting Father, all the earth worships Thee. All the Angels, the heavens and all angelic powers, All the Cherubim and Seraphim, continuously cry to Thee: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts! Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy glory. The glorious choir of the Apostles, The wonderful company of Prophets, The white-robed army of Martyrs, praise Thee. Holy Church throughout the world acknowledges Thee: The Father of infinite Majesty; Thy adorable, true and only Son; Also the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. O Christ, Thou art the King of glory! Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father. When Thou tookest it upon Thyself to deliver man, Thou didst not disdain the Virgin’s womb. Having overcome the sting of death, Thou opened the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers. Thou sitest at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father. We believe that Thou willst come to be our Judge. We, therefore, beg Thee to help Thy servants whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood. Let them be numbered with Thy Saints in everlasting glory.

V. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy inheritance!
R. Govern them, and raise them up forever.
V. Every day we thank Thee.
R. And we praise Thy Name forever, yes, forever and ever.
V. O Lord, deign to keep us from sin this day.
R. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us.
V. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, for we have hoped in Thee.
R. O Lord, in Thee I have hoped; let me never be put to shame.

Te Deum Laudamus

We praise Thee, O God:
We acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.

All the earth doth worship Thee
And the Father everlasting.

To Thee all Angels:
To Thee the heavens and all the Powers therein.

To Thee the Cherubim and Seraphim:
Cry with unceasing voice:
Holy, Holy, Holy: Lord God of Hosts.

The heavens and the earth are full:
Of the majesty of Thy glory.

Thee the glorious choir:
Of the Apostles.

Thee the admirable company:
Of the Prophets.

Thee the white-robed army of Martyrs:
Praise.

Thee the Holy Church throughout all the world:
Doth acknowledge.

The Father of infinite Majesty.
Thine adorable, true:
And only Son.

Also the Holy Ghost:
The Paraclete.

Thou art the King of Glory:
O Christ.

Thou art the everlasting Son:
Of the Father.

Thou having taken upon Thee to deliver man:
Didst not abhor the Virgin’s womb.

Thou having overcome the sting of death:
Didst open to believers the kingdom of heaven.

Thou sittest at the right hand of God:
In the glory of the Father.

We believe that Thou shalt come:
To be our Judge.

We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants:
Whom Thou has redeemed with Thy precious Blood.

Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints:
In glory everlasting.

Lord, save Thy people:
And bless Thine inheritance.

Govern them: and lift them up forever.
Day by day: we bless Thee.

And we praise Thy name forever:
And world without end.

Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day:
To keep us without sin.

Have mercy on us, O Lord:
Have mercy on us.

Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us:
As we have hoped in Thee.

O Lord, in Thee have I hoped:
Let me never be confounded.

Teach us to forgive

Your forgiveness is total,
no notebook,
tape recorder,
or post-it note
to remind you of that moment
when………

You take our confession,
offered with hands outstretched,
and gently,
like the loving
heavenly Father that you are,
put it to one side
to be forgotten.

No grudges, no itching for judgement,
no resentment or ill-will.

Not like us
who find it easy to say sorry,
but so hard to forgive
absolutely.

Forgive us, Father,
that we are often more willing
to accept forgiveness,
than to forgive,
more willing to accept your love,
than to share it with those
who have hurt us.

Teach us to forgive,
as you forgive.

A Teacher’s Prayer (by Olga De Juana)

Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom,
peace between my students and myself,
to be kind and gentle to each and every one of my students.

Help me to be merciful to my students,
to balance mercy and discipline in the right measure for each student,
to give genuine praise as much as possible,
to give constructive criticism in a manner that is palatable to my students.

Help me remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons always interesting,
to recognize what motivates each of my students,
to accept my student’s limitations and not hold it against them.

Help me not to judge my students too harshly,
to be fair to all, to be a good role model,
but most of all Lord, help me to show your love to all of my students.

Amen.
